Seven hours to read a territory from rock to plate, guided by a geologist. A day that alternates terrain, village and meetings, in Saillans, in the heart of the Drôme Valley.

In the morning — the Saint-Moirans Gorges.Two hours of easy walking at the foot of the Saoû massif, along a stream that flows all year round, between dramatically pleated limestone walls. Here we walk in the foundations of Les Trois Becs: the layers tilted vertically are the roots of the Saoû syncline, raised and then sliced by a deep fault. You learn to recognize a fold, identify an ancient alluvial terrace, and distinguish a colluvial deposit.

Lunch — lunch break in Saillans.Free time in the village, everyone chooses and pays for their meal on site.

In the afternoon — the village and the vineyard.The walls of Saillans are a catalog of local geology: limestones, molasses, river pebbles. Architecture tells about the rock, and also about men — the Celts, the Romans, the Romans, the Hospitallers, the Huguenots, the silk work, up to the experience of participatory democracy that made the village known. Then the alluvial terraces on the banks of the Drôme, and the vineyard plateau where the soil becomes legible: the soil, the drainage, the exposure, with an unobstructed view of the Trois Becs.
